Text notification issues for some carriers in PSTrax

Certain wireless carriers no longer support email-to-text services, which could affect text messages in PSTrax

In 2025, AT&T (including FirstNet) officially discontinued email-to-text services. Verizon has also begun phasing out this feature, with a full shutdown scheduled for 2027. Because PSTrax uses these carrier gateways to send alerts, users on these networks may no longer receive text notifications.

Temporary Workaround for Verizon Users: If you are on Verizon, you may be able to restore notifications temporarily by texting the word "ON" to the short code 4040. This toggles the email gateway back on if it was disabled by default. Please note that even with this enabled, messages may still be filtered or delayed by the carrier.

We don't know why these carriers decided to make this change, but here's some information from Verizon, and some information from AT&T regarding the announcements.

Our Engineering Team is working on a permanent alternative solution. Until then, we strongly recommend switching to email notifications to ensure you receive all critical alerts. Here's how:

  1. Click User Settings from the dropdown in the upper right corner of your account.
  2. Set Receive Alert Notifications Via to Email. Make sure that the email address listed on your account is accurate.

💡 To receive emails on your phone, it may be a good idea to adjust your notification settings so you are alerted when a new email from PSTrax is sent.
