Use the Journal

The Journal is a digital whiteboard that allows users to pass pertinent station/department information for other crew members to see. Here's how it works:

Summary

The Journal section in PSTrax acts as a digital whiteboard for passing information between shifts. Users can create and categorize posts to log updates, training notices, pass-on reports, or other department-wide communications. Journal settings can be customized by administrators, including categories, permissions, and display durations.

Instructions

To add a post, click Add Post, choose a category, and enter the information. You can attach files and select whether the post appears at a specific station or department-wide. Posts remain visible on the home screen for seven days by default but can be retrieved through search. Administrators can manage categories, create templates, and set permissions for journal access.

Adding a Journal Post

  1. Click "Add Post" at the top of the Journal section.
  2. Select a Category:
    • Categories are customizable by administrators.
    • Example categories: Pass-On Reports, Training, Emergency Calls.
  3. Enter Post Content:
    • Type the information to be shared (e.g., "HVAC technician arriving Saturday").
    • (Optional) Attach files to the post.
  4. Choose Post Visibility:
    • Limit to a specific station or share department-wide.
  5. Save the Post:
    • The post will update on the home screen.

Archiving and Searching Posts

  • Posts remain visible on the home screen for seven days (default).
  • Older posts automatically drop off but can be searched and retrieved.
  • The visibility duration can be customized—contact help@pstrax.com to adjust this setting.

Managing Journal Categories (Admin Only)

  1. Go to Settings → Vehicle & Station Journal.
  2. Create, Edit, or Delete Categories:
    • Modify existing categories.
    • Create restricted categories (only accessible to journal managers).
  3. Add Templates for Categories:
    • Example: A Call Log Template with fields for Call Location, Time, and Details.
    • Templates ensure consistency when logging specific types of information.

Following these steps will help ensure clear and organized shift communication. If you need assistance or wish to extend the post display duration, contact help@pstrax.com
