Learn about timeout settings, auto-save functionality, and online access within PSTrax.
What is the timeout window in PSTrax?
PSTrax automatically logs you out after 2 hours of inactivity, or if you lose internet connection. This window resets any time there is action performed on the page, such as navigating to a different page, logging checks, etc. A warning message will display 10 minutes prior to signing out to give you a heads up.
Please be aware that factors beyond our control, such as specific device / hardware settings and browser configurations (extensions, security settings, etc.), may lead to unexpected logouts.
Why does PSTrax log out users at all?
There are a few reasons why we implement the 2-hour timeout restriction in PSTrax:
- Security: Timeouts reduce the risk of unauthorized access if a user leaves their device unattended. This is especially important when handing sensitive data, such as controlled substance information.
- Better site performance: Timeouts help manage our server resources by freeing up sessions that are no longer active. This ensures that resources are available for active users to log their checks without experiencing significant slowdowns.
- Shared device management: Many agencies we work with share devices across multiple users, so logging out users automatically reduces the chances of one user logging information while logged into another user's account.
Does PSTrax automatically save my progress?
Currently PSTrax auto-saves your progress when logging Vehicle & Station checklists. So if get called out in the middle of your inspection, you can pick up where you left off. Our team is actively developing the auto-save function in other areas of the site, focusing on pages where users typically spend the most time, such as logging inventory counts in the Supplies module.
Is PSTrax available offline?
PSTrax requires an active internet connection for access and does not currently offer offline capabilities. However, any checks or updates you need to make can be logged into the site as soon as your internet connection is restored.
Online-only availability helps ensure that your data is secure and current, and allows for:
- Real-time updates: Users have access to the most up-to-date information across all locations.
- Centralized data management: All data is stored and managed centrally, making it easier to maintain, backup, and secure.
- Enhanced security: With no data stored on local devices, there is a reduced risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to sensitive information.
