Managing CS containers
Set up controlled substance containers (drug boxes, vaults, vending machines), assign drug types, and set par levels.
Summary
Controlled substance containers are storage locations for medications, including vaults, vending machines, and unit drug boxes. PSTrax provides a Manage Containers page where administrators can edit container settings, adjust min/max levels, and assign drug types. While PSTrax initially sets up all containers, administrators can make adjustments as needed.
Instructions
To manage a controlled substance container, go to Settings → Controlled Substances → Manage Containers. You can edit container settings, change access permissions, adjust min/max levels, and assign new drug types. If a new controlled substance needs to be stocked, contact help@pstrax.com to have it added.

Important Notes on Min/Max Levels
-
Min/Max settings do not restrict stocking capacity:
- If a container's max is set to 2, you can still overstock if necessary.
- These values only trigger alerts when inventory is below or above the set range.
-
Assigning a drug to a container does not physically stock it:
- The system only tracks which drug types can be stored.
- Actual stocking occurs via a restock or transfer event.
-
Adding a New Controlled Substance Type:
- If your agency starts stocking a new controlled substance, contact help@pstrax.com to have it added to the system.
Following these steps ensures accurate tracking and proper container management for controlled substances. If you need assistance, contact help@pstrax.com.
