Note: Only Full Admin in the Controlled Substances module can adjust drug types.
Adding a new drug type
If you start stocking a new controlled substance in your agency, you'll want to get it added into PSTrax so you can start to track it. This requires two steps:
- Contact our team to get the new drug type added in for you. Include the name of the type as you'd like it to appear in the system and the volume units (e.g. "Versed - mg", "Fentanyl - mcg", etc.). Note: This step needs to be handled by the PSTrax team due to the multiple considerations involved in modifying controlled substances.
- Once the drug type has been added into your PSTrax system, assign it to the containers (vaults, drug boxes, etc.) where it will be stocked. This can be done by navigating to Settings > Controlled Substances > Manage Containers > Min/Max and clicking Assign Items to This Container from the dropdown in the upper right corner.
Removing a drug type
You can remove drug types that you no longer carry from your controlled substance containers by navigating to Settings > Controlled Substances > Manage Containers > Min/Max. Click the trash can icon to unassign the drug type from the selected container.
Note: If you attempt to remove a drug type from a container that currently has vials in it, you must transfer those vials out before you're able to unassign the drug type.
