Add and remove drug types

Add or remove different controlled substance types as your needs change.

 

Note: Only Full Admin in the Controlled Substances module can adjust drug types.

 

Summary

Controlled substance types in PSTrax can be added or removed at any time to match your department’s evolving inventory needs. Once a new drug type is created by PSTrax support, administrators can assign it to specific containers and configure minimum, maximum, full, and restock levels. Drug types can also be removed from containers when no longer in use, provided there are no active vials in the system.

Instructions

New drug types must be added by PSTrax. After the type is added, admins can assign it to containers and configure their inventory thresholds. Drug types can be removed when no inventory of that type remains.

Adding a New Controlled Substance Type

  1. Request the Drug Type

    • Contact help@pstrax.com to request the new drug type be added to your department.

  2. Assign the Drug Type to a Container

    • Go to Settings → Controlled Substances → Manage Containers.

    • Click the min/max button next to the container where you want to add the new drug type.

    • In the upper right-hand corner, click the dropdown arrow next to the Back button and select Assign Items to This Container.

    • Scroll down to find the new drug type and select. (e.g., Ketamine).

    • Input your Full and Restock levels (e.g., Full: 25, Restock: 10).

    • Click Save.

  3. Repeat for Additional Containers

    • Repeat the above step for every container that will stock the new drug type.

Tip: Use Copy Items to Another Container to save time if multiple containers use the same configuration (e.g., multiple medic drug boxes).

Deleting a Controlled Substance Type

  1. Verify No Vials Exist in the Container

    • If vials of the drug are still in stock, log a usage or transfer event to remove them from the system.

  2. Remove the Drug Type from the Container

    • Go to Settings → Controlled Substances → Manage Containers.

    • Locate the container and scroll to the drug type you wish to remove.

    • Click the Delete button next to that drug type.

  3. Confirm Deletion

    • Once deleted, the drug will no longer appear as an option in that container.
